New board members:

Roy Suarez de Real III

Throughout my life, I have strived to make impacts through teaching, community projects, and events. I am also very interested in learning the “way things work," finding the origins of why things are the way they are and where things originate. As I get older, my hunger for knowledge has gotten increasingly deeper. So, for me, it is an honor to be involved with OAHS&M and learning more about the areas rich history. I feel it is important to know where you have been before you move forward.

Paul German

I grew up in the small town of Allenton, Wisconsin where my ancestry runs deep. My greatgrandfather was the undertaker, while my grandfather was a bank president. Dad owned the Little Red Inn and was also a part-time sheriff and county supervisor.

At an early age I experienced the concept of service over self. While at Slinger High School I was a four-sport athlete, continued my athletic endeavors at UW-LaCrosse in football and track (pole vaulting). After an internship at Kohler Company’s Sports Core, I worked in the Health and Racquetball industry then went back to school getting a Master's in Technology. I enjoyed a career as a Network Administrator and finished up my career in sales for PDS and AVI Systems.

I married my wife Carla and have two children Hannah, and Liam who gifted us with two grandchildren, Noa and Tatum. I am now 'retired' and spend my days devoting myself and my God-given abilities by volunteering in our community.

Michael Pate

I moved from my home state of Michigan in 1966 having completed graduate studies in History and Library Science at Western Michigan University. After a short stint at Kalamazoo Public Library, I started an academic library career as the first Library Director with the new University of Wisconsin Center in Waukesha.

In 1970/71, with my wife and first child, I spent a year as an exchange librarian at York University in York, England. We left Wisconsin for eight years for West Virginia where I was the Shared Library Director for Concord and Bluefield State Colleges. For eight months in 1972, I was invited as Consultant and Interim Library Director for the College of the Virgin Islands.

In 1985 I accepted my first appointment with Marquette University, Milwaukee as Head of Public Services and retired from Marquette in 2007 as Associate Director of Libraries. Both of my children were born in Oconomowoc and I have owned two homes here.

Chuck Gevaert

I am a retired educator from the School District of Waukesha. During my 34 years of teaching, I taught high school math, computer science and served as a technology resource teacher. I also coordinated a master’s degree program of Education in Instructional Technology for Cardinal Stritch University.

Since retiring, I have become more involved in model railroading by teaching classes in layout construction and becoming involved with the model railroad at our Museum. Since becoming the leader of our modelers, I was asked to join the Board and am happy to be more involved in the Museum’s activities.
